Introducing NEW ‘Resourcing Church Administration’ training
Users of The Church Organiser are handling a significant amount of administration at the heart of daily parish life.
But we know that administration in a parish is about more than just good software; it’s a vital ministry in itself, and experienced administrators carry a lot of wisdom and knowledge. That’s why we are so excited to highlight the Church of England’s brand-new training resource: Resourcing Church Administration
Real-world input
Launched just this month, this groundbreaking hub of information, guidance and support has been built from the ground up with input from people who actually do the job, (and also from those who support them, like diocesan officers).
So it has been created ‘by administrators, for administrators’, who have helped the production team to create a library of short, practical videos offering a friendly induction to common areas of church administration. You’ll find a broad range of topics, including
- PCC governance
- safeguarding
- buildings maintenance
- and managing admin around life events, to name just a few.
In fact, there are over 120 videos to choose from, each presented by a genuine, experienced church administrator, or in some cases, a subject expert from the Church of England. If you’d like to know more about how the resource was developed, there’s a video all about that too.
‘Just-in-time’ training
Although there are a lot of videos, no one is expected to view them all at once! The resource is designed for administrators to dip into only when they need to. Videos are on-demand, with no login required. So whether you have two minutes for a quick tip, or longer for a deep dive into a whole session, you can access it when and where it suits you, and watch sessions at your own pace.
How it works with The Church Organiser
As you browse the sessions, you’ll notice TCO is mentioned and signposted where relevant. While TCO provides the digital tools for streamlining tasks, the videos and supporting content in Resourcing Church Administration provide context and training, offering background knowledge and support to help you understand those tasks better.
For example, if you’re using TCO to manage a wedding booking, the new resource offers guidance on the legalities of marriage, along with relevant insights from research into Church of England Life Events. If you’re using our Governance module to prep for an APCM, the website offers tips for best practice to help ensure everything runs smoothly.
We think it’s the perfect partner resource for TCO users, helping you understand the ‘why’ as well as the ‘how’ of parish administration, and will be especially helpful to those who are new in post.
